The name comes from the Stelvio Pass — one of the highest paved mountain roads in the Alps, and one of the most demanding, with dozens of hairpin turns climbing toward a single summit.
It's a fitting reference: a route with no shortcuts, made entirely of deliberate turns. The crest above carries that same road. So does everything else that carries this name.
